Summer Term and our Camps and Classes are raging!

Leeds Rhinos Netball never sleeps and this summer term, we are busier than ever with May completely jam-packed full of additional camps and classes for all levels of player. This month sees our third and penultimate in our Prestige Workshop series, which we’ve been running each month since March for U15 and U13 athletes already on a pathway (or equivalent) and keen to learn more on a set position. On May 17, Leeds Rhinos coach and national selector, Maggie Birkinshaw, will take GK and GD players through the principles of defending, giving them the skills and confidence to grow their game. We still have a few spaces left on the course, which runs for 90 minutes per age group at Becketts university in Headingley.

During the half-term holiday, our popular Fun Camp returns, this time, running from GSAL in north Leeds. The camp is open to 8-14 year olds and accommodates those who are new to netball or playing already at school/club, and a fantastic way to grow skills and confidence with netball. Options for day passes or a full four-day pass gives flexibility to campers to attend as and when they choose to, with the full pass including a discount which almost gives back a whole day at no cost!

Also across the half-term break, we’re running two of our Masterclasses for players in school years 9-13 looking to up their game. Here, we expect athletes already on a pathway or training with county to sign up, already with a deep understanding of the game and ready to tackle a full day’s highly focused and technical learning from a performance expert. Both with Rhinos pathway lead coach, Emily Perry, feel free to sign up to one or both classes depending on how much additional training you’re looking for this half-term!

Regular training for our Minis, Hubs and Academy athletes continues through June with competitive play to come for the latter as well as our Academy trials for the u15 and u13 age groups (please note this is a closed event based on invitation only). If you are 11 or under and keen for more netball, check our Minis page for details on regional classes running weekly on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings; some have reached capacity although we are doing all we can to move players up a group and accommodate more Mini athletes! 12+ aged players looking to train regularly, perhaps to give their other school/club netball activity a boost, visit our Hubs page to see where and when we train.Camps and performance classes will return in the summer holidays with two more Fun Camp weeks at GSAL and our annual Boot Camp at Woodhouse Grove in August – this year, featuring England Roses and Loughborough Lightning mid-court player, Nat Panagary! We’ll also have performance coaches Anna Carter and Maggie Birkinshaw on deck throughout the week too. If a four-day residential with days and evenings filled with netball sounds like your kind of holiday, then check out the details on our web pages and be sure to put any questions you have to info@leedsrhinosnetball.co.uk – and don’t take too long, as this event is already close to a sell-out!
