The perfect end to a stellar week for Leeds Rhinos Netball, which saw us announcing our place in the 2021 Vitality Superleague, as well as holding U15 and U13 Regional Academy trials and Rhinos U15 Summer Competition squad trial: our first ever Celebration Dinner & Awards evening at the Rhino's own Emerald Stadium in Headingley!

Over a hundred players, parents and coaches gathered for this inaugural occasion, one which couldn't have been timed any better in line with the news received mid-week on the Superleague entry and everyone eager to celebrate. More than this, it was a chance to honor an extremely successful year for Rhinos Netball, its first as the official Pathway provider for the Yorkshire region and one which also saw its U19 team achieve a top-four place in the Netball Performance League.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation Chair, Bob Bowman, played host brilliantly throughout the evening, welcoming some fantastic speeches from our Director of Netball, Anna Carter, and Head Pathway Coach, Emily Perry. U19s captain, Georgia Pexton, spoke graciously on behalf of her fellow athletes in showing appreciation for the coaching team and others who help all things Rhinos to succeed. After a series of awards were announced - including one of Special Recognition for Mariana Pexton, Mum to Georgia and a volunteer who has played a stellar role with the Rhinos since their inception (most notably, in the recent Superleague bid) - it was time to take to the dance floor, which the athletes were only too keen to do!

The evening served as an opportune break from exams, as well as from all of the hard work the players have to put in regularly on and off court. It also gave everyone a chance to feel special, dress up a little while also remain relaxed in amongst the many friends they have made within this very special sporting family.
